I’ve been lucky so far, just working 5 hours/day, but today we have the final first real challenge: working for 10 hours straight on a Saturday (which is the busiest day of the week). So far, I’ve been doing fine, I learned several dishes, served some tables on my own, using the touch pad... 

First real live day at the Loch Fyne, with a busy shift and everything. 6 hours of shadowing and only one table served completely by me. Seafood is complicated and smelly, but so far so good. It’s not the job that’s  killing me, it’s the way there and back. I think my legs will fall... 

Of something that scares the living shnitzel out of me! Jobbing for Loch Fyne. Biking 16 km a day, 5 days a week. Serving food I’m not familiar with in a language that is not my own. Working on the dissertation at the same time. Planning ahead for a sunny future ) I’m too pooped/excited...

A really pretty film of about 30 minutes about a boy and his new pet! You don’t actually learn anything from it [except the fact that people are mean and horrible, while balloons are nice and friendly], but it looks really nice. Also, it’s Paris in the 50s, which is always a treat. Apparently,... 

I like the really long days here. How it’s light at 4AM and only gets dark around 11PM. And although I’d usually hate it, today I absolutely love running around all day, constantly being busy and not having anything to show for it… On a totally different note, these are two different...
