R.I.P J.D Salinger

I just found out today the guy died.

On the 27th of January, at the age of 91. There was no media fuss about it, except for sporadic articles about his love life, his seclusion from the world and the existence of unpublished manuscripts. I was thinking of putting some links, but most of them are have little informational value, they’re mostly after the sensational in the life of someone who didn’t much seem to care for it.

There are, however, a cuple of decent ones in The Guardian and one in Time Magazine

The only Romanian article that I found, which actually bothered to research the guy comes from Cotidianul. It’s also the only one with 0 comments. Maybe it’s too long…

Perhaps the nicest comment about the Romanian take on his death comes from a certain Andrei, on Ioan T. Morar’s blog [no use in translating it, otherwise it will lose its charm]:

<Andrei Says: January 28th, 2010 at 9:52 pm

Imi aduc aminte nostalgic de anii ‘90 cand studiam in liceu The Catcher In The Rye la ora de engleza si aveam de facut traduceri pt. acasa, iar un coleg ce nu stia denumirea “oficiala” a romanului in lb. romana, a tradus cu dictionarul ” Pândarul în secara” >

Although I was never a fan, I would recommend  works such as Cathcher in the Rye or Franny and Zoey to most of the teenagers I know. Actually, I don’t know that many anymore…
